TEXAS COLLEGIATE LEAGUE
About the Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
In 2025, the Abilene Flying Bison joined the Texas Collegiate League, a dynamic league in Summer Collegiate Baseball.
Founded in 2004, the Texas Collegiate League aims to provide competitive collegiate baseball and engaging fan experiences. The TCL is headquartered in Coppell (TX), played its inaugural season in 2004, and had six teams during the recently completed 2025 summer season.
Summer baseball has been a development home for players for many decades. Most MLB players who played college baseball also played summer baseball including many who have been recognized as Hall of Famers, Cy Young Award Winners, MVP’s, All-Stars and other league honors. Scouts are plentiful in attendance as summer leagues often display many of the best collegiate players in the nation.
The TCL has had more than 300 alumni drafted by Major League Baseball teams with nearly two dozen making it to The Show. Those players include: Jake Arrieta, Clay Bucholz, Matt Carpenter, Paul Goldschmidt, Corey Kluber, Hunter Pence, Taylor Hearn and A.J. Minter.
Current teams in the TCL include the Acadiana Cane Cutters (Lafayette, LA), the Brazos Valley Bombers (Bryan-College Station, TX), the Baton Rouge Rougarou (Baton Rouge, LA), the Victoria Generals (Victoria, TX), the Seguin River Monsters (Seguin, TX), and the Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators (Lake Charles, LA).
In addition to the Flying Bison joining the team roster, the Sherman Shadowcats (Sherman, TX) – a familiar team for Flying Bison fans.
The eight-team league kicks off a new season in June 2026, playing 48 games across 7 weeks.
