Where’s Beau the Flying Bison Been?

This year, Beau the Flying Bison – Bomber’s brother – made his first introduction to our fans and is so excited to join us for the 2025 season. He asked to write a letter to the fans to tell them where he was in 2024. Here’s what he had to say:

Dear Flying Faithful,

I just wanted to tell you all about my adventures last summer. Everyone might be wondering where I was last summer while my big bro Bomber was working hard to support his favorite baseball team. I would’ve LOVED to be in Abilene last summer but I was away at the Bison Buddies Barn! When we’re just red dogs, we get to go to a super fun camp to learn all about being a bison. I had SO many fun adventures and I learned A LOT about our history.

DID YOU KNOW:

  1. Male bison are called bulls and we can weigh up to 2,000 pounds! Female bison are called cows and can weigh up to 1,000 pounds.
  2. Baby bison are called red dogs because we have a red-orange color after we’re born. After a few months though, our hair starts changing to the brown color like I have now.
  3. You can usually tell a bison’s mood by their tail. How cool is that? Bomber and I like to show how happy we are by dancing or waving our hands but other bison use their tails. If a bison’s tail is hanging down and swishing back and forth naturally they’re usually calm and relaxed but if it’s straight up it’s angry and ready to charge. But don’t worry, Bomber and I don’t like charging. We know the Flying Faithful are our friends!

Bison camp also had activities like hide-and-seek, art classes, and my favorite: BASEBALL! Sure, we played other sports too but I want to be just like my big bro and play baseball. I’m still getting the hang of the rules and terms like “shutout” and “RBI” but I know after the batter hits the ball they run to first base and try not to get “out.” I might share more about my lessons on baseball rules in another letter but I want to tell you more about camp.

At Bison camp, I learned how to throw, hit, and catch a baseball. I LOVED getting to run around the bases like the Flying Bison players do and felt like I was really part of the team and I’m SO EXCITED to be in Abilene with my big bro for the team’s second season. Even though I missed Bomber a lot while I was away and boy do we have some catching up to do! He’s told me all about the Flying Faithful and what a great group of fans you all are. I met some of you in February at the Bison Bash but I want to meet everyone so please say hi when you see me at the games this season!

Love,
Beau
the Flying Bison
